We offer you an unrivalled opportunity to fly a hawk around the spectacular grounds of Ashford castle. Our aim is to share the pleasure and excitement of falconry, a fascination that has enthralled people for 4,000 years. No previous experience is necessary, we cater for all ages and abilities and under the shelter of the magnificent woodlands surrounding the school the hawks can be flown whatever the weather.

 

Your lesson begins with a look around the exclusive collection of Birds of Prey kept at the school. Your instructor will introduce you to your hawk and, within minutes of arriving, you will be setting off around the grounds to fly your hawk free. As you fly your hawk your instructor will explain about the history of falconry, the hawk’s exceptional eyesight, their speed and agility and how they are trained.

 

You will never forget the moment when the hawk first swoops down from a tree and lands on your gloved fist.
